An old video of Ghanaian rapper and music executive, D-Black, has resurfaced online where he narrated an incident involving himself and former Ghana Post CEO, Obour.

In a 2024 edition of his ‘Uncut show’, D-Black alleged that Obour misled him on a GH¢3 million fund, which was reportedly allocated by the then NDC government to support the creative arts industry.

The Black Avenue Muzik boss, during a discussion on the show at the time, explained that in 2013, Obour informed him that the then NDC government intended to support the creative industry with GH¢3 million to help enhance creativity.

He said Obour promised that after receiving the money, he would transform the sector, with a focus on artistes, royalties, among others.

“In 2013, Obour called him and told him that we should go and meet the Minister of Finance. He told me the government wanted to give us money, so he wanted to show a unified front. That time, Atta Mills had passed, so the older musicians had done a song for him.

“So I asked him what we use the money for, and he told me he was going to fix the royalty system in Ghana. He said he will build some more studios for underground artistes and a whole lot,” D-Black recounted.

He alleged that, unknown to him, Obour had already received the money and used him, along with some other artistes, to publicly express gratitude to the government.

“Do you know the week after, they were reading the budget and I realised Obour had already taken the money. he took us to go and say thank you. At that time, it was GH¢3 million.

“And when he had to do an account, he told us that the money was used to research the feasibility of the music industry and the creative arts, and how it affects the GDP of the country. He spent GH¢1.6 million on research,” he stated.
