The Ambassadors of the Czech Republic, Pavel Bílek, and Algeria, Mourad Louhaidia, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, to explore investment opportunities and strengthen partnerships in Ghana.

Pavel Bílek of the Czech Republic, who was the first to meet with the minister, touched on matters relating to bilateral trade, economic cooperation, and industrial partnerships.

He stated, “My country is looking forward to receiving a delegation from Ghana, comprising industry players and government officials, at our business conference in October this year.”

He noted that the Czech Republic sees great potential in Ghana’s industrial sector and is committed to fostering business-to-business cooperation, particularly in the area of agribusiness.

He emphasised their readiness to support Ghanaian farmers, create jobs, and contribute to the country’s efforts toward self-sufficiency.

For his part, the Algerian Ambassador, Louhaidia, recalled the long-standing diplomatic relations between Ghana and Algeria, dating back to the era of Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

He announced that Algeria will host the Intra-African Trade Fair from 4th–10th September this year, which will bring together over 30,000 African businesses on a common platform to promote trade and sign mutually beneficial agreements.

Ambassador Louhaidia extended an official invitation to the Ministry to participate in the upcoming Intra-African Trade Fair being hosted by Algeria, with the aim of deepening trade relations across the continent.

He stressed that the event is expected to result in investment commitments worth over $44 billion.

“Ghana is an important economic hub in Africa. Ghana is not only strong politically, but also economically, and we believe Ghana must be part of this significant event,” he said.

In her remarks, the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, affirmed Ghana’s readiness to attract the required investment and for social economic development.

She emphasised that the African continent has the potential to transform its trade landscape through unity and collaboration.

The minister also highlighted that with a population of 1.3 billion people, the continent holds massive potential.

She added that Ghana is ripe for business, especially in key sectors such as textiles and garments, agribusiness, and commercial contract farming.

“We encourage investments in the farming sector to help produce enough raw materials to feed our industries and possibly export surplus,” she stated.

The trade minister further noted that her Ministry is well-positioned to support investors in exploring opportunities in Ghana, enhancing the ease of doing business, and ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes for all partners.

“The Ministry of Trade, in collaboration with other stakeholders, has earmarked land banks to support potential investors. Through the government’s Big Push Agenda, we are scaling up industries and providing the necessary infrastructure to drive economic growth,” she concluded.
