Goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan dominated conversations on social media after the Black Queens lost 2-0 to the Lionesses of England in an international friendly on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

England created several chances, hitting the woodwork four times, but were made to work hard for their breakthrough.

Lucia Kendall opened the scoring after six minutes, with substitute Alessia Russo adding a stoppage-time penalty.

In a game where many expected the Lionesses to score an avalanche of goals, Konlan rose to the occasion and produced top-notch saves to prevent a humiliating scoreline.

The goalkeeper made more than five crucial saves that kept Ghana in the game until the last-minute penalty in added time sealed the 2-0 result for England.

After the match, many Ghanaian football fans took to social media to express their admiration for Konlan’s outstanding performance against the Lionesses.

Supporters acknowledged that without her interventions at key moments, the Black Queens could have been overwhelmed by the reigning European champions, who had thrashed China 8-0 in their previous game.

Fans urged her to maintain her impressive form, noting that such performances could earn her a move to a top women’s club in Europe.

Woman of the match for the Queens.

If scouts were seated at the stadium, probably she will be rushed by many of them by her top notch performance. I never knew she’s that good until she really got tested.
