Chad’s national team has been hit with chaos following the withdrawal of three key players as they prepare to play the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Ghana on Friday, March 21, 2025.
Chad finished bottom of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying group. As such, captain Marius Mouandilmadji retired from international football.
Amine Hiver and Amed Ngouyamsa also cited a lack of professionalism within the FTFA and, therefore, decided to also withdraw from the team.
With no wins in 8 games and sitting bottom of Group I of the 2026 Africa World Cup qualifiers, their withdrawal would be a major setback to the team, who would play back-to-back away fixtures against Ghana and table-toppers Comoros.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars have strengthened their technical team by appointing Winfried Schäfer as a technical advisor to head coach Otto Addo, enhancing their tactical approach ahead of the qualifiers.
