Jordan Ayew described his dramatic late goal against Ipswich Town as a “crazy” moment after securing a valuable point for Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Ayew struck deep into stoppage time, denying Ipswich their first Premier League win of the season. He combined with Jamie Vardy in a quick one-two before shooting past Arijanet Muric to level the score for the visitors.

Leif Davis’ excellent first-time volley had looked set to secure all three points for Ipswich, but Ayew’s intervention changed the outcome. This was the second time Ayew has scored a late goal this season, having previously netted a last-minute winner against Southampton in a 3-2 victory last month.

“Crazy, crazy, crazy moment,” Ayew said. “Important to go away with something. Very difficult game. I think it was an even game. Ipswich did really well. We did well as well, but sometimes you need a bit of luck and you got that bit of luck at the end of the game.”

The 33-year-old, who joined Leicester on a two-year contract worth £5 million from Crystal Palace this summer, has quickly become a key figure under manager Steve Cooper.
