A Federal High Court has delivered a ruling ordering the father of late singer Mohbad (Joseph Aloba), Yomi Fabiyi, and others to desist from making public comments against Liam and Cynthia Omowunmi Aloba.

The court’s decision followed a motion ex parte filed by the applicants’ legal counsel, O.C. Fasanmi, citing repeated threats to life and remarks being made against Liam and Wunmi, which have raised concerns about their safety and well-being.

According to the court documents, the motion was filed on February 7, 2025, and sought urgent protection for the applicants due to the nature and severity of the threats.

The applicants claimed that the respondents had engaged in public broadcasts that stirred up negative sentiments and hostility towards them.

In response, the court ordered that the respondents must show cause within 14 days of service why they should not be compelled to enter into an undertaking with sureties to guarantee their good behavior and commitment to peacekeeping for a period of one year.

Counsel to the applicants emphasized that the order was necessary to safeguard the applicants’ rights and to curb any further dissemination of harmful messages that could escalate tensions.

The court adjourned the case to October 15, 2025, for mention, giving all parties time to comply with the directives and prepare for the next hearing.
