Marriage counsellor George Lutterodt has confirmed that he was invited by the police after controversial remarks he made about the burial location of highlife legend Daddy Lumba triggered public outrage.

The issue gained attention after reports circulated across Ghanaian media suggesting that Lutterodt had been arrested in connection with statements he made about where the late musician was buried.

The backlash followed the circulation of a video in which Counsellor Lutterodt urged Ga youth to go to a residence in East Legon with pickaxes and dig up Daddy Lumba’s remains if it proved true that the musician had been buried there.

His comments drew swift criticism and attracted the attention of law enforcement. He was later reported to have been released on bail.

Addressing the issue in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, Lutterodt confirmed that the police had indeed invited him over the matter and shared details of what happened.

He conceded that the remarks were inappropriate and admitted that he had not expressed himself properly. He also expressed regret over the statement.

Lutterodt apologised to the Ghana Police Service and to listeners of the radio station where the comments were made.

Police indicated that the statement carried the potential to incite violence and described it as offensive conduct likely to disturb public peace. Authorities referenced provisions under the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491).
