This year’s Citi Business Olympics, one of Ghana’s most popular corporate sporting events, took place in spectacular fashion last Saturday, 27th September 2025, at the Eden Heights Sports Complex in Weija.

The one-day event brought together a lively mix of competition, wellness, and networking under the theme: “Bridging the Gap in Our Corporate World through Sports.”

Organised by Citi FM and Channel One TV, the event was sponsored by Universal Merchant Bank and Eden Heights Sports Complex, with additional support from Bethel Logistics, Danpong Healthcare, Hallmark Café, and Syde Hassle.

The organisers stated that more than 60 companies drawn from various sectors including banking, insurance, media, healthcare, manufacturing, and logistics, participated in the festival.

Citi FM and Channel One TV said atmosphere at Eden Heights was electric from dawn, as teams engaged in warm-up aerobics ahead of a packed schedule of sporting disciplines. Participants competed in football (7-a-side), volleyball, basketball, swimming, chess, and lawn tennis. In the spirit of fun and inclusiveness, novelty contests such as the sack race and lime-and-spoon race provided moments of laughter and nostalgia, balancing the intensity of the main sporting events.

The organisers said GCB Bank once again proved its sporting prowess by emerging overall champions, securing the top position for an eighth consecutive year.

The bank’s representatives amassed an impressive 14 medals—eight gold, four silver, and two bronze—solidifying their dominance and consistency in the tournament. Spectators lauded the team for its discipline and synergy, which echoed the values that drive its business success.

Premier Care followed closely, finishing in second place with four gold medals and one bronze. Federated Commodities (FEDCO) came in third, collecting three gold, three silver, and one bronze medal. In a moment that drew wide attention, the CEO of FEDCO clinched victory in the Ultimate CEO Challenge, a fiercely contested penalty shootout among over 40 company heads, adding a personal touch to the organisation’s strong performance.

The organisers said the 2025 edition placed a renewed emphasis on health and wellness, reflecting growing corporate awareness of employee well-being. Free medical checks were conducted at two general health clinics run by Danpong Healthcare and PATH, where participants received vital health assessments. A special Diet Class, led by Efua Densua Nsiah Normanyo of Densua Consult & Medical Catering, offered practical dietary advice tailored for busy professionals. Group fitness activities, including Dance Aerobics, brisk walks, and workout sessions, kept participants energised throughout the day.

They said another innovation introduced this year was the CEO’s Lounge, a dedicated space for top-level executives to unwind, exchange ideas, and build new connections. Many senior managers described it as a valuable addition to the event, allowing them to interact informally in a relaxed setting while discussing collaborations beyond the sports arena.

“As the sun set over the Eden Heights complex, the true spirit of the Citi Business Olympics shone through, not just in medals won, but in relationships built, teamwork displayed, and memories created,” Citi FM and Channel One TV, stated.

According to the organisers, the event continued to grow in scale and relevance, reinforcing its position as a unique platform that brings corporate Ghana together to promote fitness, unity, and professional camaraderie, saying “With each passing year, the Citi Business Olympics reminds all participants that while business drives results, it is the people and partnerships behind it that make the difference.”
