Media personality, DJ Slim, has responded to Article Wan’s recent comments about the challenges of consistently producing hit songs.

One would recall that Article Wan recently stated that having constant hit songs can stifle an artist’s creativity due to the pressure it creates.

He mentioned that periods without hits allow artistes to relax, reflect, and refine their craft.

However, DJ Slim has disagreed with this assertion, citing examples of Ghanaian musicians like Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy, who have consistently delivered hit songs over the years.

Speaking on his show, DJ Slim referenced Shatta Wale’s successful years between 2015 and 2018, when the dancehall artiste released several hit songs every year.

“If not for anybody, I can reference Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy. These people have been having back-to-back hit songs for years. I want Article Wan to look at his godfather Shatta Wale during the 2015-18 era, when the man was dropping hit songs like crazy.

“He can even go into the shower and compose a hit song. It was consistent for years. There were years Wale would drop 13 bangers. How many months do we even have in a year?” he queried.

While DJ Slim agreed that an artiste’s creative ability can sometimes be ‘shaky,’ especially during troubled times, he argued that consistent hit songs are achievable through hard work and discipline.

“I’ve seen interviews of big superstars where they say that sometimes when they are on stage, their next venue is the studio. So, contrary to what Article Wan says, I believe it’s hard work,” he stated.
