Ghanaian professional dancer and content creator Lisa Quama has revealed that the only restriction she faced from her parents when she began her journey was related to staying out late at night.
Speaking in an interview with Anita Akua Akuffo on TV3 on October 7, 2025, Lisa narrated that her family was incredibly supportive of her career choice, with their primary concern being her safety rather than her decision to pursue dance.
“The only resistance I faced was coming home late because with dance, mostly clubs, stages, performances that happen at night. My mom’s only concern was I shouldn’t be coming home late” she said.

She continued, “As a young girl, why would I stay out late but I calm her down with getting protection from my coaches and being around the group.”
Lisa stated that her excellent academic performance made it easier for her parents to support her path.
According to her, she maintained high grades, which helped reduce any pressure from home.
“Aside that too, I was actually very intelligent in school and it reflected in my results so because of that, there was no really much restrictions. I was scoring my grades excellently so there was no restrictions if I wanted to do dance” she shared.

However, Lisa noted that combining education and dance career wasn’t as easy as she initially thought.
She admitted that at a point, the pressure from both sides caused her to miss classes and even re-sit some exams.
“It wasn’t easy combining school with dance. I actually thought it would be easy to do both but it’s actually tough. Sometimes I had to miss school to go for dance class, because of that I even had to resit some papers. I passed after all and I’m now a graduate” she added.
