The CEO of US tech company Astronomer has been placed on leave after a video showing him and the company’s Chief People Officer in a romantic moment at a Coldplay concert went viral, according to the BBC.
The video was recorded during Coldplay’s concert on July 16, 2025, at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts. It showed a man believed to be the CEO and a woman thought to be the Chief People Officer hugging and dancing intimately.
When they noticed they were on the venue’s big screen, they ducked and tried to hide. The crowd laughed, and Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, quipped, “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy.”
The video was first posted on TikTok and quickly spread across other social media platforms. Many users began speculating about the couple’s identities.
Online reports identified the man as Andy Byron, CEO of Astronomer, and the woman as Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer. However, neither has publicly confirmed being in the video.
According to the BBC, it has not independently verified their identities. Nonetheless, the video gained so much attention that fake statements purporting to be from Byron began circulating online.
Astronomer issued a statement on X, clarifying that the CEO had not made any public comments and denouncing the fake statements as false. The company also emphasized that no other employees were involved in the video.
Subsequently, Astronomer announced that CEO Andy Byron had been placed on leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability. The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter, and we will have additional details to share very shortly,” the company said.
