Entertainment pundit Ola Michael has accused the Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, of struggling to adapt to his new role.

Speaking on his Neat FM show, Ola Michael claimed that Afenyo-Markin’s recent behaviours in Parliament are a result of his difficulty in accepting his shift in authority, from Majority Leader to Minority Leader.

“He seems to be suffering from cognitive dissonance. He is finding it difficult to come to terms with the reality that he is no longer in power. He continues to behave as if he is still the Majority Leader, failing to recognise that positions have changed,” Ola Michael stated.

To back his point, Ola Michael referenced the vetting of the Minister for Communications, Digitalisation, and Innovation-designate, Sam George, where Afenyo-Markin spent three hours asking questions that Ola deemed unnecessary.

“What was the point of that? He wants to prove that he still has the power and authority he once held, but the truth is, those days are over,” he questioned.

Recently, Afenyo-Markin, who previously served as Majority Leader, admitted in an interview that this is his first time as Minority Leader and that he is bound to make mistakes.

Commenting on this, Ola Michael argued that the issue goes beyond mere inexperience.

“He has yet to fully accept the changes. Until he realizes that his position has changed and he is now the Minority Leader, he will keep behaving the way he is,” Ola said.

Ola further stated that the new role will eventually humble Afenyo-Markin if he finally comes to terms with his current reality.

“His new role as Minority Leader will teach him humility, but he’s not there yet. He needs to remind himself of his new position and begin acting accordingly,” he added.
