Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo has said that some of his colleagues’ struggles in the team boil down to a couple of factors, including coaching.

He explained that the kind of coaching and guidance players receive at the club level, as well as their ability to adapt to the coach’s strategies, are crucial to how they perform in the team.

The Bournemouth attacker also indicated that the calibre of players at the club and the pitch quality may differ from the national team, which hampers the success of some players.

Speaking in an interview with Joy Sports, Semenyo advised Ghanaians to support players who thrive for their clubs but fail to replicate the same form for the Black Stars, as they will eventually adapt to the team.

“Every fan is going to have their opinion, and they’re valid. But I feel like playing for your club and playing for your country are different things. You’ve got to adapt to a manager, adapt to the players, and adapt to surfaces.

“Everything’s a bit different. So, I’ll say just give the players a chance to show themselves over a number of games. It’s not just one game. Just be behind us, even when we have a bad game, and support us. That’s what we ask for,” he said.

Semenyo, Mohammed Kudus, Inaki Williams, and Ernest Nuamah, who were struggling in the team recently, all scored during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

The Black Stars defeated Chad 5-0 on March 21, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium and secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Madagascar on March 25, 2025.
