Former Asante Kotoko coach Isaac Boateng, popularly known as Coach Opeele, has highlighted how societal conditioning fosters biases from an early age.

According to Coach Opeele, some Ghanaians grew up harbouring negative sentiments toward specific entities, notably Hearts of Oak and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

This statement follows social media backlash against a tweet in which Coach Opeele praised the appointment of Dr. Randy Abbey as the CEO of COCOBOD.

A critic accused Abbey of contributing to the decline of sports in Ghana, labelling his leadership as incompetent and biased.

In response, Coach Opeele defended his stance, explaining that such criticisms often stem from ingrained biases from childhood.

He shared that he, too, was socialized to harbor similar prejudices but has since outgrown them.

“I don’t blame you. Your profile made me understand the kind of home you were brought up in, as I was raised the same way,” he tweeted on X (formerly Twitter).

“We were brought up to hate anything Hearts of Oak and NDC. Thank God entering the media helped me grow out of this petty hate. One day, you will learn this SENSE!” he tweeted on X.
