Ghana’s boxing fraternity is abuzz with excitement as the nominees for the prestigious Ghana Boxing Awards have been announced. Among the esteemed list of nominees is Coach Carl Lokko, the renowned head coach of the Bronx Boxing Club, who is vying for the coveted Coach of the Year award.

In an exclusive interview, Coach Lokko expressed his gratitude for the nomination, praising the organizers for their vision. “This initiative is a step in the right direction. It will encourage boxers, coaches, managers, and promoters to up their game and attract sponsors,” he said.

Lokko’s nomination is a testament to his outstanding work in the boxing industry. Under his guidance, the Bronx Boxing Club has enjoyed a remarkable year, with several of its boxers winning championship titles. The club’s impressive performance is a reflection of Lokko’s dedication to his craft and his ability to inspire his boxers to reach new heights.

“We’ve worked hard to get to where we are today,” Lokko said, beaming with pride. “Bronx Gym has the most champions, and it’s not by coincidence. We take our training and discipline very seriously, and our boxers know what’s expected of them.”

Despite facing stiff competition from other notable nominees, including Ebenezer Adjei (Coach Killer), Charles Quartey, Gabriel Allotey (Coach Zico), and Ofori Asare, Lokko remains optimistic about his chances. “I’m confident that our achievements will speak for themselves,” he said.

As the boxing community awaits the announcement of the winners, Lokko reflected on the past year, acknowledging the challenges and disappointments that have come with the territory. “It’s been an eventful year, to say the least,” he said with a chuckle. “But we’ve learned from our setbacks and are looking forward to an even better year ahead.”
