Suspended Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, on Monday, May 27, 2025, filed a supplementary affidavit in support of her application to halt the work of the committee hearing three petitions for her removal from office.
In the affidavit, the embattled Chief Justice made several serious allegations against members of the committee, including claims of human rights violations.
She recounted how she, a sitting Justice of the highest court in the country, was allegedly subjected to inhumane treatment, including body searches and the seizure of her mobile phone and other personal devices.
Justice Torkornoo also claimed that her family members were denied access to the committee hearings held at the Osu Castle, which she described as an unnecessarily “cordoned-off high-security facility.”
