Former world champion and International Boxing Hall of Famer, Christy Martin held court in the small Central New York town of Manlius, just outside of Syracuse for a very special cause this past Friday and Saturday, November 14th & 15th. The locations were both the Manlius Cinema and “All Who Wander,” a very popular pub. In addition to several screenings of her biopic “Christy,” as which Martin was present, there were Q & A sessions after the screenings, as well as a special talk/Q & A session with members of Vera House at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Vera House is a sanctuary for battered women and victims of domestic violence. Having very nearly been a murder victim and definitely a victim of domestic violence herself, at the hands of her trainer/husband Jim Martin, Christy devotes much of her time advocating for women or anyone who needs it, to seek out the help necessary to free themselves of domestic abuse. Fightnews.com was extremely privileged to host the Q & A session with Christy. Vera House CEO Tricia Matthews opened the session which proceed with Fightnews Editor-In-Chief Boxing Bob Newman conducting the Q & A thereafter.
