The President of the China Chamber of Commerce in Ghana, Mr Tang Hong, has urged Chinese nationals and businesses operating in the country to strictly obey Ghanaian laws and conduct themselves in ways that strengthen mutual trust and bilateral relations.

In a press statement issued in Accra and copied to The Ghanaian Times on Friday, Mr Tang reminded Chinese citizens living in or visiting Ghana that they served as informal ambassadors of their country and must uphold integrity, respect local customs, and avoid activities that could damage China’s image.

He stressed that Ghanaian laws applied equally to all persons, warning that illegal activities, fraud, hate speech, or unethical conduct would attract the full consequences of Ghana’s legal system, without expectation of special treatment or intervention from Chinese authorities.

Mr Tang explained that responsible conduct was essential to sustaining goodwill between Ghana and China, adding that the Chinese Embassy in Ghana remained committed to supporting lawful conduct, integration, and people-to-people relations.

He welcomed statements by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, that Ghana was prepared to sign a zero-tariff agreement with China, noting that such an arrangement could significantly reduce trade barriers and improve access for Ghanaian products to the Chinese market.

Mr Tang also cited President John Dramani Mahama’s renewed call for Chinese enterprises to invest in Ghana, highlighting the country’s sustained peace, political stability, and business-friendly environment.

He said deeper cooperation between the two countries would help create jobs, transfer skills, and expand the use of technology, urging both sides to work together to inject new momentum into Ghana’s development and achieve shared growth through strong and transparent partnerships.
