Chelsea‘s former academy footballer of the year Harvey Vale is signing permanently for Championship club Queens Park Rangers after the two West London clubs agreed the final terms of the deal on Thursday evening.

Vale, 21, is ready for the next challenge of his career and QPR have won a January race that included multiple sides in England and Europe.

Mail Sport understands Chelsea have waived a transfer fee in lieu of a handsome sell-on clause with bonus payments also built in based on appearances.

Vale will now undergo his medical, potentially on Friday, before the transfer is finalised.

It will bring an end to an association with Chelsea which began when he moved to Cobham at 12 years old.

This month saw significant interest in the versatile attacker who has featured in the Conference League for Chelsea’s first team under Enzo Maresca this season and has been a standout performer for their development side in the Premier League 2.

His contract with Chelsea was due to expire at the end of this season, though the Blues had the option of triggering an extra year.

QPR are currently midtable in the Championship and managed by Marti Cifuentes. They play Millwall and Blackburn next and then will travel to face Frank Lampard’s Coventry.

Vale previously spent time on loan in the Championship with Hull and in League One with Bristol Rovers. He was handed his Chelsea first-team debut in 2021 by now-England boss Thomas Tuchel.
