Chelsea players have reportedly decided to donate approximately $500,000 of their FIFA Club World Cup bonus money to the family of Liverpool’s Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, who tragically passed away in a car accident in July 2025, alongside his brother.

According to multiple reports from the UK, this decision was taken by the playing body after they were told about their £11.4m bonus for winning the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The decision of the players has been accepted by the club and the donation will be made to the family of the late Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva.

This remarkable display of solidarity highlights the football community’s compassion and support in times of tragedy.

Tributes to Jota and Silva are expected to be made across the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

The Liverpool winger and his brother, who was also a player for Portuguese club Penafiel, both died in a car crash in Spain on July 3.
