    The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has unveiled a list of selected Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) expected to be achieved by the newly appointed envoys and diplomats.

    Speaking at the orientation of the new envoys on Monday, September 1, 2025, the minister indicated that the KPIs have been set to high standards and are intended to support the government’s resetting agenda.

    “This is the first time in the history of the foreign ministry of Ghana that our ambassadors are going to work with KPIs. We are going to work with a measurable performance framework. It shows our willingness to support the present reset agenda and to set very high standards, which we are known for by the way,” he said.

    Check out the selected KPI’s below:

    Per the new KPI’s, the new envoys are expected to:

    1. Secure scholarships and facilitate exchange programs with foreign institutions to enhance Ghana’s human capital;

    2. Drive a minimum 10% annual increase in tourist arrivals to Ghana to create jobs and boost foreign exchange reserves;

    3. Maintain strict adherence to financial regulations and procurement laws across all missions;

    4. Strengthen Ghana’s security interests by improving intelligence sharing and facilitating collaborations with foreign security agencies;

    5. Inaugurate or reactivate Permanent Joint Commissions for Cooperation (PJCCs) with Ghana’s key partners;

    6. Pursue the strategic transition from rent to infrastructure development to save Ghana millions in rent cost;

    7. Attract anchor developers for Ghana’s $10billion Push Infrastructure Development;

    8. Drive a minimum 10% annual increase in trade volumes by actively promoting Ghanaian products and services in foreign markets and securing new preferential trade agreement;

    9. Identify and facilitate strategic investments in priority sectors such as agriculture, energy and infrastructure;

    10. Establish formalized agreements and pathways for the export of skilled Ghanaian labor, opening new job opportunities for professionals and semi-skilled workers abroad;

    11. Guarantee efficient and timely consular support for all Ghanaians abroad;

    12. Engage with Ghanaian communities worldwide to compile a diaspora investment channeling their expertise and capital into national development;

    13. Implement transparent, integrity driven practices to ensure ethical conduct and accountability across all diplomatic missions.
