Canadian Ghanaian Basketball prospect, Charles Bediako is continuing his legal fight to regain eligibility to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball after a court denied his request to return to the collegiate competition.

On February 9, 2026, a Tuscaloosa Circuit Court judge rejected Bediako’s motion for a preliminary injunction in his lawsuit against the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), which had ruled him ineligible. Judge Daniel Pruet denied the request, closing a brief window that had allowed Bediako to feature in five games earlier this season under temporary relief granted in January.

Bediako has since filed an appeal and is seeking injunctive relief that would permit him to play while the appeal is pending. It remains unclear whether the Alabama Supreme Court will hear the case.

The 23-year-old previously exhausted his eligibility at Alabama from 2021 to 2023 before declaring for the NBA Draft. Although undrafted, he signed with a G League team, a move that complicated his NCAA status upon returning.

During his five-game stint this season, Bediako averaged 10 points and 4.6 rebounds in 21.6 minutes, helping Alabama to a 3-2 record. The university says it continues to support him as he completes his degree.
