The Centre for Employment of Persons with Disabilities (CEPD) and the Ghana Chamber for Entrepreneurs with Disabilities (GCED) have reaffirmed their commitment to advocating for healthy working environments and inclusive employment policies, particularly for marginalised groups, especially persons with disabilities, to enable them to thrive effectively.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by persons with disabilities in many workplaces, the organisations emphasised their dedication to ensuring that these individuals enjoy equal rights and opportunities.

They noted that they are working tirelessly to transform the aspirations of such marginalised groups into reality, rather than leaving them as unfulfilled dreams.

This was stated in a message issued on May 1, 2025, to mark International Workers’ Day.

“As we mark this day, we reaffirm our commitment to advocating for inclusive employment policies, equitable opportunities, and supportive environments where persons with disabilities can thrive.

“We also acknowledge the ongoing challenges faced by workers with disabilities and pledge to continue working toward a future where dignity, equal rights, and full participation in the world of work are not just aspirations, but reality,” the statement read.

In celebrating the strength of workers, particularly persons with disabilities, the statement encouraged them to remain resilient, continue breaking barriers, and serve as a beacon of hope for others.

“On this important occasion of May Day, the Centre for Employment of Persons with Disabilities (CEPD), in collaboration with our affiliate organisation, the Ghana Chamber for Entrepreneurs with Disabilities (GCED), extends warm and heartfelt greetings to all workers with disabilities across the nation, in both the formal and informal sectors.

“Today, we celebrate your resilience, your innovation, and your invaluable contributions to the economy and society. Whether you are a business owner, a professional, a craftsperson, a trader, or a worker in any field, your hard work and perseverance continue to break barriers and redefine what is possible. Happy May Day to all workers with disabilities! Your strength is our inspiration. Your success is our mission,” the statement concluded.
