The Centre for Social Democracy is demanding answers on whether the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is acting in accordance with the Presidential Transition Act of the country.

The Civil Society Organization (CSO) has filed an RTI request at the Office of the Administrator-General for clarity on a number of things, including whether the offices of the President and Vice President have submitted their handing-over notes.

The CSO is also seeking to know if Ministries, Agencies, Departments, and MMDAs have submitted their handing-over notes as the Akufo-Addo government nears its end.

Excerpts of the letter sighted by this website read: “We hereby submit this request for information regarding the requirements of Section 6(4) of the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (843). The specific information requested is:

“1. Whether or not the office of the President has submitted comprehensive handing-over notes covering his term of office as the President of the Republic.

“2. If yes, please provide the date the handing-over notes were submitted to your office.

“3. Whether or not the said handing-over notes cover the activities of the following offices:

“a. Office of the President, Vice President, and the agencies under the portfolios of the Office of the President and Vice President.

    “b. Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

“c. Regional Ministers and District Chief Executives.”

“The government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will end on January 7, 2025, when he hands over to a new government.”
