Chairman of the newly constituted Central Regional Armwrestling, Abass Sulley has said the region is on the cusp of becoming the country’s armwrestling hub.

Abass Sulley made the statement when the reconstituted leadership of the association called on the Regional Sports Director, Joyce Batsa to familiarize and discuss development collaboration with the National Sports Authority.

Sulley expressed his confidence in the region’s potential to develop talented armwrestlers who can compete internationally. He highlighted the region’s strategic location, rich sporting talent pool, and the association’s commitment to promoting the sport.

Chairman Abass Sulley indicated that the focus of development will be Junior and Senior High Schools, where the association plans to introduce armwrestling as a competitive sport. This initiative is expected to identify and nurture young talents, providing opportunities for students to develop their skills and compete at the highest level.

Charles Osei Asibey, President of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation, echoed Sulley’s sentiments, saying, “Central Region is noted for Sports and Academics. The abundance of schools and the competitive spirit of student-athletes will make Central Region an attraction and soon create wealth out of the passions and emotions of our sport.”

Joyce Batsa praised the Ghana Armwrestling Federations’ efforts in promoting armwrestling nationwide and pledged her support for the sport’s development in the Central Region.

She emphasized the importance of commitment, teamwork and collaboration between the association, sports authorities, and other stakeholders to achieve their goals.

The mandate of the new leadership is to develop and promote armwrestling in Senior and Junior High Schools, form clubs, and raise a formidable regional team for the national team. This initiative will not only promote the sport but also provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and potentially represent Ghana on the international stage

Central Region will take center stage in Ghana’s armwrestling development as the rivalry in Senior High Schools will give the sport the traction it deserves to become a hub for the sport..

The newly regional leadership will be inaugurated in the coming days as the central region prepares to host a training of the trainer program.
