In a demonstration of solidarity and setting the tone for the future, the newly elected President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Central Region, Mr. Kingsley Nana Buadu, assured colleagues of the entire fraternity of his unwavering commitment to enhancing members’ welfare.

He made these remarks at a gathering held at Asanka Locals, following an official swearing-in ceremony administered by Her Ladyship Justice Juliana E. Amonoo-Neizer at the Cape Coast High Court on Friday, July 11, 2025.

The GBC Television regional correspondent paid glowing tribute to his predecessor, asserting that he gave him a run for his money during the contest, and for that, he doffs his hat to him. He highlighted that in every contest, one person must win, but he called on all members to rally behind **him** to make the association a formidable force in the region and Ghana at large.

Mr. Buadu emphasized that the era in which the association had been a shadow of itself is over. “The time when the association was not strong enough to command respect is past. Together with my executives, we will work to enhance its image and reputation,” he stressed, underscoring that prioritizing members’ welfare would be a prime concern during his tenure.

Concluding his remarks, he thanked regional journalists for their confidence, stressing the need to provide unbiased and dedicated service to members. “I thank you for your votes, and **I will take nothing for granted,” he promised, seeking their steadfast support, noting that “a leader is only as strong as the members behind him.”

Mr. Osiadeyo Adu Gyamfi Marfo, Vice President of the regional GJA, pledged unwavering support for the president’s vision. “I promise to support you in all your endeavours. Together, we will solidify and strengthen the association in the region and make journalists proud of its name. Mr. President, you have my unflinching support,” he stated, much to the president’s admiration.

Journalists attending the gathering expressed optimism at the promises made and the resolve of the newly sworn-in leadership to act rightly and elevate the regional association to greater heights.

However, colleagues advised the leadership to work in members’ best interests. “A leader succeeds only when they act in the members’ interest. The ability to deliver what your followers need defines good leadership,” one colleague counseled.

The official swearing-in ceremony for the new GJA leaders concluded successfully, with the leaders committing to revitalize the association, champion colleagues’ interests and welfare, and contribute to the region’s development. How they intend to achieve this can only be assessed at the end of Kingsley Nana Buadu’s tenure.
