Former Ghana international Sulley Ali Muntari is celebrating his 41st birthday today, August 27, 2025.

Born on August 27, 1984, the dynamic midfielder rose to become one of Ghana’s most influential footballers of his generation, leaving an indelible mark on both club and country.

Muntari was a key figure for the Black Stars during their golden years, featuring at multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and playing a pivotal role in Ghana’s maiden FIFA World Cup appearance in 2006.

He went on to score one of Ghana’s most iconic goals at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, a thunderous strike against Uruguay in the quarterfinals.

At club level, Muntari enjoyed a glittering career across Europe. He represented top sides such as Udinese, Portsmouth, Inter Milan, and AC Milan, winning the UEFA Champions League, Serie A, and Coppa Italia with Inter during their historic treble in 2010 under Jose Mourinho.

Known for his powerful left foot, combative style, and big-game mentality, Muntari remains a fan favourite among Ghanaians.

His goals and performances for the Black Stars continue to live long in the memory, and today’s celebration of his birthday is a reminder of his immense contribution to Ghanaian football.

A special video from the Black Stars’ Facebook page captures some of Muntari’s unforgettable moments with the national team, his goals, passion, and leadership in the famous Black Stars jersey.
