Data from the Bank of Ghana has shown that the Ghana cedi has appreciated by 21% against the US dollar in the first nine months of 2025.

According to its September 2025 Summary of Economic and Financial Data, the cedi traded at GH¢12.15 as of September from GH¢11.40 in August.

The cedi had appreciated by 42% against the dollar in June 2025, but faced some turbulence in the months after the BoG withdrew interventions in the forex market.

Cedi trades at GH¢12.20 to $1 on interbank market

Additionally, the cedi appreciated by 11.8% against the British Pound to trade at GH¢16.45.

The cedi also appreciated by 6.9% against the Euro to trade at GH¢14.23.

Meanwhile, at forex bureaus, the dollar is selling at GH¢13.50, the pound is selling at GH¢18.50, while the euro is selling at GH¢16.20

Despite the setback, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Asiama, said the cedi remains one of the best-performing currencies in the world.
