CBOD engages IMF on fuel affordability

As part of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) First Review of Ghana’s Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI), the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) has participated in a stakeholder engagement on Friday, October 30, 2026.

The meeting examined fuel affordability and concerns of supply to the retail market.

The engagement brought together representatives from the Ministry of Finance, IMF, National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and CBOD to discuss developments in Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.

A key focus of the discussions was to assess the sustainability of government interventions in response to rising petroleum prices, FX supply to the sector, and the floor price policy’s impact on the availability, affordability, and long-term sustainability of petroleum product supply, as well as its broader impact on the economy.

It provided an opportunity for stakeholders to exchange perspectives on the sustainability of Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry.

The chamber assured of its commitment to constructive stakeholder engagement and policy dialogue that promotes a resilient, efficient and sustainable downstream petroleum sector.

The International Monetary Fund, IMF is in Ghana for a mission to review the country’s economy after signing up for the non-financing Policy Cordination Instrument.
