The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has fined Accra Hearts of Oak over GH₵106,000 for failing to pay the wages of their former player, Francis Adjetey.

The ruling comes after Adjetey, who signed for the Phobians in February 2023, sought legal action against the club after facing registration issues less than a year into his contract.

Although Adjetey signed a four-year deal, he left the club after they failed to honor the terms outlined in the agreement.

Adjetey initially brought the case before the Ghana Football Association, but after an unsuccessful outcome, he escalated it to CAS.

CAS ruled in favor of Adjetey and ordered Hearts of Oak to pay GH₵106,477 to him. The fine includes the player’s unpaid wages and other financial obligations the club failed to meet under their agreement.

The ruling also requires the payment of 5% interest per year on the principal amount, starting from 15th September 2023 until the day Hearts of Oak makes the full effective payment.
