The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe, commissioned an ultra-modern accommodation for personnel of the Air Force Base, Tamale, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

The ultra-modern accommodation, known as Block A, is located at the Air Force Base Barracks in Tamale and consists of 12 units of two-bedroom apartments, 12 units of one-bedroom apartments, and 4 large dormitories.

The guest of honour for the occasion, AVM Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe, in his keynote address, stated that the ceremony marked a significant milestone in efforts to create a smart Air Force capable of defending the country’s territorial airspace against threats and delivering air power effectively and efficiently for national development.

He noted that the Ghana Air Force has made considerable strides in achieving its mandate of providing air support to the Ghana Armed Forces and other national developmental needs.

“Beyond these gains, we have also prioritised personnel welfare by equipping them adequately and providing decent accommodation and improved living spaces,” he said.

AVM Bekoe further stated that the commissioning of the facility demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the Military High Command, through the Air Force Headquarters in Accra, to the welfare and well-being of service personnel.

He explained that the facility was designed to provide occupants with a decent space for rest while fostering comradeship and mental well-being.

He urged personnel to exhibit good maintenance culture so that the facility can serve future generations.

The Northern Regional Minister, Alhassan Shaibu Shani, in his remarks, noted that the commissioning of the edifice is a testament to the government of Ghana’s commitment to providing essential needs to personnel of the security services.

He pledged his support to the Air Force Base Tamale in their quest to improve the welfare and well-being of its personnel.

The Base Commander of Air Force Base Tamale, Air Commodore Joshua Mensah-Larkai, expressed his appreciation to the Military High Command and the Chief of the Air Staff for providing comfortable and modern living conditions for airmen at the Base.

He commended the contractor and his team for their dedication in ensuring a successful and timely completion of the project.

The Guest of Honour, in appreciation of the contractor’s hard work and dedication, presented plaques of recognition to Anthony Tieku Nsiah of Tonydollyken Enterprise and Flight Sergeant Nkoom Augustus of the Engineering Wing of Air Force Base Tamale.

Present at the ceremony were Staff Officers from the Air Force Headquarters in Accra, Staff Officers from the Headquarters Northern Command, Commanding Officers of the various Units in Tamale, Officers both serving and retired, Heads of the various sister Security Services in Tamale, Soldiers and Defence Civilian Staff, Traditional authorities, friends, and families of Air Force Base Tamale.
