Carlos Baleba has passed his Manchester United medical and signed a five-year contract with an option to extend until 2032.

United will confirm the £65m plus £5m deal with Brighton on Monday.

The agreement for the Cameroon midfielder, 22, is made up of a £65m guaranteed payment plus £5m in bonuses.

Baleba has been in Manchester over the weekend and was at the Carrington training complex on Sunday.

United are also monitoring Barcelona star Alejandro Balde as they look to bolster their options at left back.

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick addressed Balde’s future following their thumping 5-0 win away at Elche on Sunday evening, with the Spain defender not in the squad.

‘I spoke with Balde this morning and told him that I think he’s not here 100%, that he should clear his mind and then we’ll talk,’ said Flick.

United have already signed central midfielders Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Aston Villa’s Youri Tielemans for a combined £85m. Both players started the shock 2-0 defeat by Hull in their first Premier League game of the season on Saturday.

Meanwhile, United academy player Jacob Devaney is leaving Old Trafford for Hibernian on a season-long loan, with an option to make the move permanent.
