A car has this morning crashed into a central London landmark, causing streets to be closed off streets with two people rushed to hospital with injuries.

Police and paramedics blue-lighted to a Piccadilly Circus roundabout at around 5.25am where a car had flipped near a fountain.

Photos show police tape sealing off roads and the scene where the heavily damaged vehicle is seen on its roof.

London Ambulance paramedics arrived within minutes of receiving a 999 call, with one person being rushed to a major trauma centre.

Another person has been taken to a local hospital.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: ‘We were called at 5.25am today (29 June) to reports of a road traffic collision on Piccadilly, W1J.

‘We sent a number of resources, including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and members of our hazardous area response team (HART). We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.

‘Our first paramedic arrived on scene in less than four minutes.
