The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly has carried out a major decongestion exercise across parts of Cape Coast today as part of efforts to restore order and improve movement within the metropolis.

The exercise targeted several key issues affecting traffic flow and sanitation in the city. Authorities focused on the removal of illegally parked broken vehicles, improper parking of Pragyia tricycles, as well as the demolition and clearing of unauthorized roadside structures obstructing public spaces.

Addressing the media during the operation, Mr. Emmanuel Forson, Metropolitan Environmental Health Analyst, described the exercise as a necessary intervention aimed at ensuring free movement of vehicles and pedestrians along major roads in Cape Coast.

According to him, the initiative is not only focused on traffic management but also on improving sanitation within the municipality. He emphasized that officials are equally committed to maintaining cleanliness by ensuring streets and public areas remain neat and hygienic.

Mr. Forson noted that the decongestion exercise forms part of ongoing measures by the Assembly to promote sanity on major roads, enhance both pedestrian and vehicular mobility, and restore order within key commercial hubs across the metropolis.

The Assembly assured residents and traders that similar exercises will continue periodically to sustain cleanliness, safety, and organized urban development in Cape Coast.
