A candlelight vigil will be organised in honour of Maame Dwomoh Boateng and Justine Agbenu, two young women who tragically lost their lives in the infamous East Legon accident on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

The vigil, titled “All White Candlelight Vigil,” will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 5:00 PM. The ceremony invites loved ones and the community to gather in their memory at the accident site.

The two young women were victims of a fatal car crash in East Legon, Accra, when Elrod Salifu Amoako, the son of Bishop Salifu Amoako, rammed his Jaguar 4×4 into the Acura in which they were travelling. The crash shocked the nation, sparking widespread outrage and discussions around reckless driving and road safety.

The accident occurred in the late hours of October 12, when Elrod Salifu Amoako reportedly lost control of his vehicle and collided with the Acura. Both Maame Dwomoh Boateng and Justine Agbenu, who were in the Acura at the time, were pronounced dead at the scene, marking the tragic end to two promising young lives.

The flyer for the event, sighted by MyNewsGH and circulating on social media, shows the two women, Maame Dwomoh Boateng and Justine Agbenu, with a message inviting attendees to come together in their memory. The choice of an all-white dress code for the vigil symbolizes peace and the desire to celebrate the lives of the victims, even in the face of tragedy.

Since the accident, many Ghanaians have expressed their grief and frustration online, with calls for justice against Elrod Salifu Amoako, who is currently under investigation. Friends, family, and the broader community have been mourning the loss, sharing heartfelt messages of love and support for the victims’ families.
