The Canada–Ghana Chamber of Commerce (CANCHAM) has officially launched its 10th anniversary celebrations in Ghana, highlighting a decade of growing trade, investment, and people-to-people partnerships between the two countries.

The milestone event brought together diplomats, business leaders, and entrepreneurs to reflect on progress made and outline a shared vision for the future.

Speaking at the launch, Canadian High Commissioner to Ghana, Myriam Montrat, described the Canada–Ghana relationship as one built on trust, shared values, and human connections.

“Ghanaian entrepreneurs exploring opportunities in Canada consistently find partners who believe in fairness, transparency, and shared prosperity,” she said.

Ambassador Montrat emphasized that despite the geographical size and diversity of both countries, partnership ultimately comes down to people and impact.

She added that the bilateral relationship is rooted in shared ideals such as democracy, the rule of law, respect for diversity, and a strong commitment to inclusive growth. According to her, these values continue to guide cooperation between Canada and Ghana across multiple sectors.

The Canadian high commissioner highlighted Canadian investments in Ghana spanning mining, infrastructure, education, environmental stewardship, agribusiness, and clean technology as evidence of shared priorities around sustainability, innovation, and social impact.

For her part, Linda Vasnani, President of CANCHAM, shared some tangible outcomes of partnerships formed over the past decade.

She said: “Trade missions organized by the Chamber have resulted in several fruitful collaborations, particularly in the mining sector, with partnerships focused on value addition rather than one-sided gains.”

Mrs. Vasnani explained that a key achievement of CANCHAM has been fostering strong networks among member companies, enabling them to do business not only across borders but also among themselves. These networking platforms, she said, have strengthened trust and commercial linkages within the Chamber’s ecosystem.

Looking ahead, she identified investment and access to financing as critical priorities for Ghana’s private sector.

“This anniversary not only as a celebration of past achievements but also as a call to action to build shared prosperity that uplifts communities and inspires the next generation of Canadians and Ghanaians,” Mrs. Vasnani implored.

Executive Secretary of CANCHAM, Mrs. Edwina Atta-Sonno, shared that the chamber will build of the momentum that has been achieved over the last decade to empower its members by expanding connections to other critical sectors of the economy.

“Building on this momentum, we are pleased to announce the expansion of our trade missions to include hospitality and tourism, logistics and services, agribusiness and pharmaceuticals,” she noted.

She added: “These missions are designed to deliver tangible outcomes, from access to accurate market intelligence and global best practices to ESG exposure, investment facilitation and strategic partnerships.  Our goal is simple, to empower our members to compete effectively, grow confidently and scale sustainably.”

Spotlight activities to mark the anniversary include an initiative dubbed “Beyond the World Cup”—an event that would convene industry leaders, policymakers and football enthusiasts to explore the link between sports, business and cultural exchange.

Other planned activities will be the CEOs Connect—a high-level business summit and an immersive executive business adventure trip to the Volta Region.

Mrs. Nana Kraah Ansah-Adjei, Director of the Economic, Trade and Investment Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs said CANCHAM should look at growing SMEs as part of their program for the year 2026 and beyond.

“The trust we build, the conversations we share, and the friendships that have grown over the decade will form the foundation of everything we celebrate today,” she further indicated.
