University of Ghana Corporate Football League will begin its competition in February

As preparations intensify for the 2026 University of Ghana Corporate Football League (UGCFL), all eyes are on the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the reigning champions who lifted the inaugural trophy in 2025 after a penalty shootout victory over Union Ghana.

The 2025 edition of the league captured widespread attention with its competitive drama and strong display of corporate camaraderie. GCAA delivered a memorable performance throughout the tournament, including a tactical semi-final victory over the Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club and a thrilling final that saw goalkeeper Tsawodzi Ruben make crucial saves in the shootout to secure a 4–2 win against Union Ghana. Prince Aboagye was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

The champions are expected to face stiffer competition as corporate football continues to grow in Ghana.

Teams such as Union Ghana, who pushed GCAA to the limit in last year’s final, along with other strong contenders from across the corporate sector, will be eager to challenge for the title, pushing the defending champions to raise their level even further.

The task ahead goes beyond defending silverware; it is about setting a benchmark for excellence in corporate sports while inspiring other institutions to elevate their football programmes.

GCAA’s success last year has already set a high standard, and many will be watching closely to see whether they can cement their status as the league’s first champions or if a new winner will emerge in 2026.

As anticipation builds ahead of the upcoming season, the question remains: can GCAA rise to the challenge and defend its title, or will a new corporate powerhouse be crowned UGCFL champions?

Fans and teams alike will find out when the whistle blows and the race for the 2026 trophy begins on February 6, 2026, at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The University of Ghana Corporate Football League is organised by the University of Ghana Sports & Wellness Directorate and RITE Sports Services, with support from the Ghana Football Association.
