Ghanaian musician, Raphael Kofi Attachie, popularly known as Camidoh, has explained why he quit rapping to focus on singing.

According to him, he made that decision because he found rapping too demanding, as he finds singing to be a much easier and more natural fit for him.

In an interview on Hitz FM on July 24, 2025, the artist explained that while he initially enjoyed rap, the constant pressure to improve his lyrical skills became overwhelming.

“I just felt that rap became a lot of work for me because as time went on, I had to be reading a lot. I had to be doing so much work,” he stated.

“It was like ‘ei this bar is not strong oo’ because the bar is always being raised so that was a lot of work for me,” he added.

Camidoh added that being an independent artist at the time compounded the difficulty.

Without the backing of a major record label, he had to manage every aspect of his career himself, leaving little time to hone his rap skills.

He found singing, in contrast, to be less stressful and more intuitive.

He noted that he can effortlessly write, produce, and perform his own songs, which has fostered consistent growth in his music career.

“It’s not like we had big labels that were signing us and when you are signed everything else is done for you,” he explained.

“It’s like bro we are hustling for ground up so there is no time for luxury. I am not here to say I am writing raps to catch up. I can actually do this one. I can produce and I can sing. And the singing comes to me easily,” he added.
