A Cameroonian has been arrested and put before the courts for kidnapping a Nigerian girl under the pretext of letting her join a football academy in Ghana.

The accused identified as Cesar Victorie Tsala according to reports is a Cameroonian national who has been living in Ghana for over a decade.

The 55 year old is accused of taking the 17-year-old unlawfully and having sexual relations with her for a year.

CAF Media Officer, Ibrahim Saanie Daara who broke the news on his X page urged parents to be vigilant and “not fall for schemes claiming to offer paying academy places for their wards. Report such offers to the police.”

This comes just days after a Senegalese teenager, Cheikh Touré tragically lost his life in Ghana after being lured with the false promise of joining an academy.

Goalkeeper Cheikh Touré was found dead in Ghana following an encounter with individuals believed to be fraudsters in Kumasi.
