The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a new partnership with KONAMI Digital Entertainment Co, Ltd, confirming the gaming giant as the Official Gaming Sponsor of the Africa Cup of Nations for the 2025 and 2027 editions.

As part of the agreement, KONAMI will hold exclusive gaming rights to recreate the AFCON within its globally popular eFootball franchise, giving fans worldwide the opportunity to experience the continent’s premier football competition in digital form.

CAF General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba welcomed the partnership, noting its importance in expanding the digital reach of African football.

“The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 will be one of the most exciting and widely followed editions of our flagship competition. Our partnership with KONAMI reflects CAF’s commitment to innovation, global fan engagement, and creating new opportunities for African youth in both football and digital spaces,” he said.

KONAMI Senior Executive Officer Koji Kobayashi also described the move as an opportunity to further enrich the eFootball experience with African football authenticity.

“We are delighted to announce the establishment of a partnership with CAF. This partnership brings new possibilities to the gaming experience, and we are truly excited to deliver the passion of the African region to fans around the globe through eFootball,” he stated.

The collaboration aligns with CAF’s ongoing digital transformation strategy and supports efforts to strengthen football development and fan interaction across the continent.

The 2025 AFCON will take place from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
