Captain Ibrahim Traoré has completed the renovation of the August 4th Stadium Captain Ibrahim Traoré has completed the renovation of the August 4th Stadium

After four long years of exile, the Stallions are finally coming home. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have officially reinstated Ouagadougou’s iconic August 4th Stadium for international competition, marking a symbolic and practical triumph for Burkina Faso under the bold leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

According to a CAF report dated July 1, 2025, the approval means the Burkina Faso national team could make an emotional return to their beloved home ground as early as the next international break.

For Burkinabe fans, this is far more than a sporting milestone; it is a testament to the country’s renewed spirit and determined transformation.

Once a faded symbol of national pride, the August 4th Stadium has undergone a sweeping makeover as part of President Traoré’s ambitious plan to restore Burkina Faso’s vital infrastructure and national confidence.

On May 7, 2025, Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo toured the site himself to inspect a project that has since exceeded expectations.

The transformation has been nothing short of remarkable: from fresh turf and a fully refurbished athletics track to modern locker rooms, new restrooms, an upgraded gym, and a redesigned VIP stand.

The stadium’s corridors now celebrate the nation’s rich footballing history through striking portraits, a powerful reminder to young Burkinabe that greatness is rooted in their soil.

A new press box, equipped to host 80 journalists, signals Burkina Faso’s readiness to welcome the world back to Ouagadougou.

But for President Traoré’s administration, the renovation is about more than a grand reopening. It reflects a broader, results-driven governance style, one that honours the sacrifices of ordinary citizens through visible, lasting progress.

During his visit, Prime Minister Ouédraogo praised the workers’ dedication and the companies’ professionalism but stressed accountability and sustainability.

With clear instructions for a robust maintenance plan, the stadium’s revival sets a new standard for managing public investments in Burkina Faso.

CAF’s seal of approval marks an important milestone for Burkina Faso’s football ambitions.

With the Stallions now set to return to their historic home ground, the refurbished August 4th Stadium stands as a symbol of the country’s commitment to restoring key infrastructure and supporting its sporting tradition.
