CAF President Patrice Motsepe has revealed that Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy faced unexpected challenges upon arriving at a Moroccan airport recently on his way to headline the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Fan Zone concert in Rabat.

The CAF President disclosed during a recent press conference that the Nigerian music star was held at the airport by customs officers over a jewellery issue.

Motsepe explained that the matter was resolved amicably after he intervened.

“I was recently called to intervene because Burna Boy was stopped at the airport after customs officers noticed his heavy and beautiful gold jewellery. I intervened, and it was resolved,” he shared.

Burna Boy headlined the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Fan Zone concert in Rabat on January 16.

Ghanaian singer Stonebwoy, as well as Moroccan stars Stormy and Jaylann, also performed at the concert.
