Joshua Buatsi barely edged out Zach Parker over 10 rounds to capture the WBA international light heavyweight title in Manchester, England Saturday night.
Parker appeared to be the busier, more accurate puncher and seemed to box his fight. For his part, Buatsi relied more on forward aggression and the jab, but seemed a step slower and less busy than Parker throughout the fight. Due to the awkward clash of styles, Parker found himself on the canvas no less than four times, but not one was ruled a knockdown. The judges scored it 95-95, 96-94 twice, for Buatsi. The decision was met with stoney silence by the crowd. With the win, Buatsi picks up the WBA International title and moves to 20-1, 13 KOs. The unlucky Parker drops to 26-2, 18 KOs.
