A British tourist holidaying in Brazil has vanished from his Airbnb without his passport or belongings.
Denis Kopanev, 33, who works as a finance manager in London, was last seen leaving his accommodation in Gavea, Rio de Janeiro, on Monday, June 9.
CCTV cameras filmed him exiting the property wearing a beige jacket and trousers, a dark baseball cap, and a white shirt.
He was supposed to travel to Sao Paulo the following day to meet his American friend, Diego Garcia Blum, 36.
They were set to travel together to Fernando de Noronha, a volcanic archipelago about 215 miles off Brazil’s north-eastern coast.
But concerned friends and family members have not heard from Mr Kopanev, who is Russian with British citizenship, since Monday.
The last location on his phone was at the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon near his accommodation in Rio, where he never checked out of.
His passport and belongings were also left in the room.

Mr Kopanev was supposed to travel to Sao Paulo the following day to meet a friend
Mr Garcia Blum, who first met Mr Kopanev in London in 2022, told LBC that his friend’s disappearance was ‘very odd’.
He said: ‘When I got [to Sao Paolo] and he wasn’t replying, I thought at first his phone must have been stolen.
‘He’s not someone who just wouldn’t respond. But then I started to get really worried, and I contacted his best friend who saw his phone stopped pinging on Monday.
‘The Airbnb landlord agreed that it’s very strange. We have him on camera leaving on Monday night and he doesn’t come back.’
The 36-year-old added that ‘clearly something went wrong’ because Mr Kopanev hadn’t taken his belongings with him.

Mr Kopanev’s disappearance was registered at the police station on Wednesday, June 11, as reported by NeedToKnow.
His best friend Benone Moura said he loved Brazil and visited the country often, including as recently as six months ago.
Mr Moura said his friend had never travelled without letting his loved ones know beforehand.
His last contact with Mr Kopanev was at around 5pm on Sunday, June 8.
Family members contacted the British Embassy and filed a report but have yet to receive any news.
The case is being investigated by the Rio de Janeiro Whereabouts Discovery Unit.
