A British car enthusiast was killed in a crash on Australia’s remote Kangaroo Island along with one other man.

Ed Burrows, 26, died alongside Craig Doyle, 55, a father and baseball coach from Adelaide, when the car they were passengers in rolled over on Wednesday evening.

The driver was Mr Doyle’s 42-year-old nephew and was the only person to have survived the crash, with just minor injuries.

He has been arrested and charged with two counts of causing death by careless use of a motor vehicle.

Local reports claim the vehicle may have swerved to avoid a kangaroo before crashing.

Mr Burrows was travelling the country from the deserts of central Australia to the south coast and posting his journey on social media.

In a video montage posted in July of his outback adventures, one friend back at home had commented he was ‘livin’ the dream’, to which he replied: ‘I’m trying it on for size.’

Both the 26-year-old and Mr Doyle worked at the Sea Dragon Lodge and had been there the day of the fatal crash.

Karin Greenslade, the owner and operator of the lodge, paid tribute to the Briton: ‘We can’t grasp it — we are in disbelief.

‘Ed was loving everything on Kangaroo Island, loving life here.’

While Mr Doyle’s daughter shared her devastation on social media in a heartbreaking message.

She said: ‘Our hearts are absolutely broken. My dad’s life was cut short last night as he died in a serious car crash on Kangaroo Island.

‘We currently have no words but we wanted our friends and family to know…We love you sooooo much dad and will miss you for ever and ever.’

The father-of-two was a life member of the Goodwood Baseball Club.

The club said: ‘Our thoughts are with Lisa, Travis, Kimberley and the rest of the Doyle family at what is a truly devastating time.

‘A full tribute will follow over the coming days along with details for Craig’s funeral. The family have asked for privacy at this tough time.’

Crash investigators were at the scene on Thursday morning.
