The Deputy General Secretary for Administration at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ama Brobey-Williams, has stated that the Black Queens’ upcoming friendly against England’s Lionesses will provide significant international exposure for the players.

She noted that the match, scheduled for December 2, 2025, in the United Kingdom, will offer scouts an opportunity to identify new talent.

Brobey-Williams also emphasised that the friendly will test the team’s strength and help them prepare for the 2027 World Cup tournaments.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Alisa Hotel on October 20, 2025, she reiterated the GFA’s commitment to advancing women’s football through substantial investment.

“The Black Queens face the England Lionesses. For many, it will be a spectacle of skill. This match is a rallying call that Ghanaian women belong on the biggest stages, and our nation stands beside them. It opens doors for talent discovery and gives players access to education, mentorship, and career pathways they might never have had. This requires investment and inspiration for career growth. We invite meaningful partnerships,” she said.

Keith McMahon, the UK Deputy High Commissioner to Ghana, described the match as a highly anticipated encounter and encouraged Ghanaians to support the team. He expressed confidence that the friendly will strengthen ties between Ghana and the UK.

“I’m passionate about football, and Ghana playing against our team will be an amazing event. England, being European champions, and the Black Queens, known for their quality football, will make this match exciting. Come and support the Black Queens and help them deliver a great game. I believe the match will bring the people of the UK and Ghana closer together,” he said.

Betty Akosua, Technical Director at the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, commended Sector Minister Kofi Adams for his consistent support for women’s football.

“We want to thank President Mahama and Minister Kofi Adams for their commitment to women’s football, which has made this friendly match possible. The women’s game should be seen as a growing estate, not just an asset. The match against the Lionesses will serve the purpose of talent development and identification,” Akosua noted.
