The British Deputy High Commissioner to Ghana, Keith McMahon, has expressed his admiration for Ghanaian forward, Kudus Mohammed admitting he would have signed the player for Liverpool ahead of Florian Wirtz.

Speaking in a video shared by JoySports, the diplomat, who is also a passionate Liverpool fan, praised Kudus’ quality and questioned why the Reds missed the chance to sign him from West Ham United.

“Kudus is amazing. I don’t know why we didn’t buy him from West Ham. I would have bought him before Wirtz. He’s an amazing player,” McMahon said.

Kudus, 25, joined Tottenham Hotspur during the summer 2025 transfer window after two brilliant seasons at West Ham, where he became one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking talents.

Liverpool, on the other hand, opted to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, a move that has yet to pay off.

While Kudus has registered one goal and four assists in eight Premier League games for Spurs this season, Wirtz is still searching for his first goal contribution in a Liverpool shirt.

The Ghanaian international has quickly become a fan favourite at Tottenham, continuing the form that saw him rise through Ajax and West Ham, while Liverpool’s German playmaker is still finding his feet in English football.
