British boxer Raven Chapman is recovering after undergoing emergency brain surgery and spending almost two weeks in an induced coma following a serious injury sustained during sparring.
The 32-year-old collapsed after a training session in Denmark on July 24 and was taken by air ambulance to hospital, where doctors diagnosed a brain haematoma and cerebral oedema.
Chapman underwent emergency surgery to stop the bleeding and reduce swelling before being placed in an induced coma to aid her recovery.
In an update released by her team, doctors have now started reducing her sedation as treatment continues.
Plans are also being made for her to be transferred to a hospital in the UK, where she is expected to begin what is likely to be a lengthy rehabilitation.
A statement from her team said: ‘Doctors are doing everything they can to support her recovery, and we remain hopeful as she continues to fight through this incredibly difficult time.

Several stars from the boxing world have donated, with the likes of Nakisa Bidarian, Terri Harper, Ellie Scotney and Skye Nicholson among those to have contributed.
Former promoter Frank Warren shared the appeal on social media, writing: ‘Raven is fully in my thoughts this morning, I’m really hoping she can pull through and get home safely.
‘Everyone at Queensberry is behind you Raven, we’re all hoping you can pull through this.’
Queensberry also issued its own statement, saying: ‘Everyone at Queensberry is devastated to hear about our former fighter Raven Chapman. We’re all hoping for a full recovery.’
Queensberry Promotions also donated £20,000, while Eddie Hearn contributed £5,000.
Chapman, from Norwich, has a professional record of 10 wins and two defeats. She challenged for the WBC featherweight world title in 2024, losing on points to Skye Nicholson in Riyadh.
