The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has announced that the Black Stars have proposed a budget of over $13 million for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

It was disclosed that the team intends to spend about $1,230,465 on pre-tournament camping, which includes friendly matches and preparations at their training base ahead of the competition.

Approximately $6,284,000 is expected to be spent during the group stage, where Ghana will play three matches against England, Croatia, and Panama in a bid to progress to the next round.

Should the team qualify for the Round of 32, an estimated $690,000 will be spent on players and technical staff.

If the Black Stars advance to the later stages of the competition, projected expenditures will increase accordingly. An estimated $920,000 has been earmarked for the Round of 16, $1,137,500 for the quarter-finals, and $1,365,000 for the semi-finals.

Should Ghana reach the final, an additional $1,840,000 will be required. In addition, members of the Management Committee are expected to receive $310,000 as honorarium.

Overall, the proposed expenditure amounts to $13,776,965.

The minister emphasised that the budget remains at the proposal stage, with discussions yet to be held with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for scrutiny before final approval.

He noted that the figures could either be reduced or maintained depending on the outcome of deliberations.
