In her farewell match, Cecilia Brækhus defeated Ema Kozin by unanimous decision to become a two-division world champion. Fighting in front of a home crowd in Lillestrøm, Norway, Brækhus won the WBC and WBO super welterweight titles. The victory was a culmination of her storied career, further cementing her legacy in boxing.

The fight capped an extraordinary career. For Brækhus, who had not fought in her home country since 2017, the final fight took on immense significance. It was the final chapter for the former undisputed welterweight queen, who helped end a 33-year ban on professional boxing in Norway.
Brækhus dominated the fight. The judges scored the fight in Brækhus’s favor by a wide margin (96-94, 97-93, and 98-92). Her superior skill and experience were on display as she overcame Kozin, who was 14 years her junior.

With the win, Brækhus became a world champion in a second weight class, joining the ranks of all-time boxing greats. She retired with a final record of 39 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw.

Ema Kozin entered the fight as the WBC and WBO champion and a tough, physical opponent with only one prior loss in her career. However, the 44-year-old Brækhus had previously stated that she was still a better fighter.

Brækhus stated beforehand that this would be her “last dance” and expressed her deep connection to her Norwegian supporters. Her victory marked the end of her professional journey, which she said she felt was the right time to end.
